Pittsburgh – Steeler’s Coach Mike Mcarthy has got a pre-season win under his belt after the Steelers played the Packers last night winning 28-9 over the Packers. Steelers Rookie Drew Allar completed 2 touchdown passes and one touchdown to secure the win for the Steelers. Coach McCarthy said in his post game interview he thought the guys played well last night. Quarterbacks: First series was a little bit bumpy; we had the sack on the AA blitz but I thought Mason was a 16-17-18 play drive, so it’s exactly what I was looking for from him. Thought both Will and Drew; Will had some peaks and valleys, some things didn’t go quite right and thought he did a really good job with his composure, right throught to the 2-minute drill was excellent and thought about giving Drew a two-minute drill at the end, but you get to a point about being healthy. I really like the performance of all three quarterbacks tonight. Passing Game: I’ll be honest I’m looking for a lot different than that. It’s a big thing for me in pre-season is number one. Just keep it clear of the start like we want to come in here and win the game. You have to win as a football team and it is different levels you winning in the right game, so you gotta you gotta build that and I’m not just talking about just the final score. I want to make sure we were very cognisant of the line of scrimmage playing the right way play style. I thought we got off to a good start. You know the obvious negatives is the penalties are way too high. This is an excellent game to grade as a coaching staff because there’s a lot of good things that went on out there and you know it’s good to get a win at home. It was our first game. We have a lot to clean up, but the passing game, numbers were pretty good, but I like the way our quarterbacks ran the offense, and that’s a big thing. I thought this is a good start for us and that’s a good Start. Passing Stats Steelers Quarterbacks: Combined for 27-of-33 passing (only 6 incompletions) for 333 total yards and 2 touchdowns. Drew Allar: 10-of-13 for 154 yards, 2 passing touchdowns, and 1 rushing touchdown. Team Totals & Highlights Final Score: Steelers 28, Packers 9 Total Offensive Yards: Steelers outgained the Packers significantly, holding Green Bay’s offense to 160 total yards. Key Plays: Rookie wide receiver Kaden Wetjen recorded a massive 74-yard catch-and-run touchdown. Green Bay Scoring: The Packers’ points came entirely off rookie kicker Trey Smack, who converted three field goals (including a 58-yarder).
